The tradition of Jewish studies at the Institute of History is quite a long and it is associated with the Mordechai Anielewicz Center for Research and Teaching of the History and Culture of Jews in Poland  established in 1990. The  first director of the Center was prof. Jerzy Tomaszewski (1930-2014). Since the beginning of its activity the Center led classes on Jewish topics, offered to all university students.

Currently, the Center offers 3-year bachelor’s program in Jewish studies and 2-year master’s program.
